Leporacanthicus triactis L091
⦿

More info

The L91 is easily identifiable by its stunning orange fin rays. Occasionally, the coloration extends throughout the entire dorsal and caudal fin, but this is rare. This Pleco is large and robust, suitable for larger tanks. Although it is regularly exported from Colombia, it remains quite expensive. Captive breeding is uncommon, but achievable under the right circumstances.

Facts:

Name: Leporacanthicus triactis (Isbrücker, Nijssen & Nico, 1993) Trade names: Three Beacon Pleco, Orange Seam Vampire Pleco, L91 Origin: Orinoco River, Colombia/Venezuela. Maximum size: 25 cm / 10''

These fish should be kept in well-filtered and clean aquariums with plenty of hiding places. They are peaceful towards most other fish, but males can display territorial and aggressive behavior towards each other. Leporacanthicus are carnivores and should be fed a protein-rich diet consisting of crustaceans, shrimp, mussels, and fish meat. High-quality dried foods should also be offered. Larger specimens can produce clutches of approximately 100 eggs. Males have a broader head with a rim of short odontodes.
