Strontium plays an important role in accelerating the growth of corals and calcareous algae. Natural saltwater contains approximately 7-9mg/L of strontium.
Since the growth of corals and calcareous algae is related to a decrease in calcium, a decrease in calcium usually means a decrease in strontium as well.
It is recommended to maintain strontium concentration between 5-20mg/L.
