Nutrient ratios for reef aquarium corals and sponges are ideal when nitrate and phosphate are present at the lowest concentrations. Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance stimulates, with the mixture of organic carbon compounds and suitable inorganic nutrients, the incorporation of nitrates and phosphates in additional biomass through the feeding of organic carbon. In this way, these nutrients are reduced in the water and, at the same time, a situation of lack of nitrates or phosphates is prevented. This makes the coloring, as well as the growth of corals, sponges and other filter feeders, visibly improve.
It is possible to stabilize nitrates and phosphates at the lowest level, with particular success, if Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance is used together with Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Pellets or Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Tricks. These are easy-to-use organic biopolymer filtration media for fluidized bed reactors or drip systems.

The dosage is guided by the age of the aquarium:
In old and new aquariums and (0-1 year*) no more than 0.25 ml per 100 l of aquarium content should be added daily. In medium aged aquariums (1-2 years*) up to 0.5 ml/100 l can be dosed daily and in mature aquariums and older systems (>2 years*) daily between 0.5 to 1 ml in 100 l of water from the aquarium. Under no circumstances should a daily dosage of 1 ml per 100 l of aquarium content be exceeded.
* Age indications are only approximate reference values; in individual cases the classification depends on the stability of the aquarium.
At the start of Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance dosing, the phosphate concentration should be between 0.02 mg/l and 0.1 mg/l. In case of very low phosphate concentrations, we recommend dosing Tropic Marin® Plus-NP and in higher concentrations Tropic Marin® Elimi-NP.
To increase the effect of Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance, the dosage can be increased after 2 weeks by 0.25 ml daily per 100 l of aquarium content, never more than the maximum daily dosage amount of 1 ml/100 l. The concentrate should be introduced into a place in the aquarium with a high flow of water. An addition early in the lighting phase is advantageous. If, after increasing the dosage of Tropic Marin® NP-Bacto-Balance, turbidity occurs, return to the immediately previous dosage.
