Corals and other invertebrates use calcium from the seawater in which they live. While in the ocean there is an inexhaustible supply of calcium, in the marine aquarium, calcium and alkalinity are quickly depleted. To support the healthy and natural growth of corals, a balanced supply of calcium is essential.
Natural marine water has a calcium content of approx. 410 mg/l, an alkalinity of 6.5°dH and a pH of 8.2. These three parameters work together to achieve calcium saturation in the water – decisive for the optimal growth of corals and calcareous red algae. Tropic Marin® Bio-Calcium increases calcium and alkalinity values and stabilizes the ideal growth pH of corals and calcareous red algae in the simplest and most efficient way, thus achieving the best conditions for a successful treatment of reef aquariums.

Application and Dosage:
Calculate the volume of water in the aquarium. Determine the need for calcium and alkalinity (KH). The application of 1 dosage spoon of Bio-Calcium in 100 l increases the alkalinity by 1.5 °dH and the calcium content by 10 mg/l. We recommend that the alkalinity value does not exceed 9 °dH.
The maximum recommended dose is 2 scoops per day in 100 l of aquarium water!
Fill the measuring spoon with Bio-Calcium and smooth the surface (use a scraper for an exact filling measurement). Add the Bio-Calcium in a place where the current is strongest, preferably in the filter container on the surface of the water, so that the indissoluble crystals do not come into contact with the animals. Add slowly preventing localized saturation. If this procedure is not possible, we recommend the use of Original Balling liquid products or Carbo-Calcium / Carbo-Calcium Podwer.
