It feeds on particles suspended in the water, hence it is also called filter shrimp.

It is a shrimp that, despite being relatively large, reaching 8 cm, is very peaceful. While wild, the diet is based on zooplankton and phytoplankton.

In the aquarium, if it is inhabited by some fish, in principle, the food scraps left by them will be enough to feed the wood shrimp.

Although it is easy to distinguish males from females, reproduction in the aquarium is quite difficult, as the young develop first as larvae and need very specific water parameters.

It is a peaceful shrimp, both among its species and in relation to other aquarium companions. With hiding places where light does not fall directly, an aquarium of 60 liters is enough for this species to inhabit.

Although it is not very shy and it is often seen walking around the aquarium during the day, the wood shrimp likes areas with low light. Plants of the genus Anubias, for example, are perfect for this purpose as they provide a little shade under their leaves where this shrimp is often found.

Excepcionais em todos os aquários

Estes camarões fazem um excelente trabalho no aquário, apesar de tímidos, são criaturas fantásticas. Dispõem de uma risca avermelhada que percorre no seu corpo. Recomendo vivamente! Voltarei a encomendar
