More info

The red version of the Black Panda shrimp is the Red Wine shrimp. This color form also belongs to the Shadow shrimp, also known as Taiwan shrimp. Typically, the Red Wine has two continuous white bands on the abdomen and has more white than the Red Ruby. Both the red and the white are very intense and opaque. Dark streaks may appear in the red of the Red Wine, hence the name "Shadow Shrimp". It is believed that Shadow shrimp originated from a crossbreeding between Bee shrimp and Tiger shrimp. The females of the Red Wine shrimp reach a body length of 2.5 to 3 cm, while the males are smaller and slimmer than the females.

The Red Wine shrimp prefers clean, very soft, slightly acidic, and oxygen-rich water. The temperature should not exceed 25 °C. Room temperature is sufficient, though in summer cooling may be necessary. Tap water is generally not suitable for keeping and breeding Red Wine shrimp.

The Red Wine shrimp are not very picky about food but should be fed predominantly with a vegetable-based diet, providing protein only twice a week with suitable protein food. Dried mulberry leaves should be a permanent food source in any shrimp aquarium.
