More info
Hypancistrus sp. L333 - Zebra Maze Pleco
A distinctive L-number often confused with other species that have similar patterns, such as L066, L318, L399, L400, and L401. While juveniles display distinct characteristics, adults share a clear base with dark lines. The main difference of the L333 is its yellow/light brown base coloration and its more robust body compared to the paler coloration of the L066.
Both L066 and L333 are found in the Xingu River, but L066 features straight lines on the fins, unlike other similar species. L318 and L401, on the other hand, come from rivers other than the Xingu. If capture location information is available, this makes identification much easier. L318 has wider dark areas and often broken light lines, while L401 shows narrower dark areas with many broken lines.
