Originating in South America, from the Amazon, Orinoco and La Plata basins, the aquarium provides hiding places as they spend most of the day hidden. Substrate preferably sandy and soft. If you plan to keep this species in a community aquarium, make sure the other fish are large enough not to become potential victims on your nightly forays into the aquarium.
