More info

The Dolabella Sea Hare, also known as the Wedge Sea Hare, is a highly effective algae eater that will quickly clean up hair algae. If startled, it may release a purple dye to repel attacking fish. In the home aquarium, the Dolabella Sea Hare requires a good chemical filtration system to promptly remove this toxic dye before it causes any issues.

In the wild, it is typically found in shallow areas with seagrasses and coral rubble, showing a preference for shaded spots. Adequate cover from aquarium lights should be provided. This species requires a spacious environment for movement. It favors an aquarium with live rock and open sandy areas, enabling it to graze on algae. It is sensitive to copper-based medications and cannot tolerate poor water conditions with high nitrate levels.

If regular feedings of Caulerpa are not feasible, a supplemented diet of parboiled lettuce and dried kelp is necessary.
