More info

Proserpinaca palustris, also known as siren, can be found growing throughout the southeastern United States and in Latin America in moist soil, ditches, ponds, streams, and swamps.

Proserpinaca palustris

In the emergent stage, this stem plant native to Cuba looks quite expressionless with its simple green leaves. After a period of acclimatization underwater, the plant will gradually reveal its beautiful plumed leaves underwater. Proserpinaca grows slowly and the stems do not branch much, so the cuttings from the head are put back in the same place.
