Galaxea Bicolor I

Galaxea or Galaxy corals are hardy stony corals that grow quickly, developing new heads. This variety has short tentacles and extremely fluorescent coloration. Please note that Galaxea have long sweeper tentacles and need plenty of space around them. Fragments of this coral will be between 1/2" and 1".

What You See Is What You Get

Location

Indo-Pacific - Islands of the Indo-Pacific, including Fiji, Tonga, Solomon Islands, and the Great Barrier Reef.

Lighting

Galaxea does not require as much light as some other corals. It can be kept under normal output fluorescents without much difficulty. In our experience, this coral does poorly in medium to high light reef aquariums.

Low Light

Low light is between 30 - 50 PAR per unit area

Medium Light

Medium light is between 50 - 150 PAR per unit area

High Light

High light is above 150 PAR per unit area

Water Flow

Moderate water movement is recommended.

Feeding

Galaxea relies heavily on the products of its zooxanthellae. This coral may benefit from finely ground meaty foods. The food should have an almost paste-like consistency before being administered, due to the small size of the polyps.
